The water ring vacuum unit is composed of a Roots pump as the main pump and a water ring pump as the front stage pump in series. The water ring pump selected for the water ring vacuum unit is more advantageous than other vacuum pumps as it not only overcomes the extreme pressure difference when a single water ring pump is used (the extreme pressure of the unit is greatly increased compared to the extreme pressure of the water ring pump), but also has the disadvantage of low extraction rate under a certain pressure. At the same time, it retains the advantage of the Roots pump being able to work quickly and having a relatively large extraction rate. It can adapt to extracting a large amount of condensable steam, especially when the mechanical vacuum pump of the gas seal oil seal has insufficient ability to remove condensable steam, or the solvent used can deteriorate the pump oil and affect its performance, or when the vacuum system does not allow oil pollution, it is more obvious. If equipped with explosion-proof motors and appliances and following corresponding safety regulations, flammable and explosive gases can also be extracted. The main function of the water ring pump in the unit is to create the pre vacuum required by the Roots pump. In general, the ultimate vacuum degree of a single stage water ring pump is not high, and the pre vacuum required by Roots pumps produced in China is relatively high. Therefore, in fact, we generally do not use a single stage water ring pump as the pre pump of the Roots pump, but instead use a double stage water ring pump with lower ultimate pressure as the pre pump, which can also reduce the extreme pressure of the unit.
The limit pressure of one pump and one water ring pump is 400Pa, which can meet the general vacuum demand, but its range of use will be limited. If two Roots pumps are connected in series and combined with the water ring pump, the limit pressure of the unit can be greatly increased (up to 25Pa). Therefore, in this type, it is commonly seen that two Roots pumps are connected in series and then used as the front stage pump to form a unit. If a higher limit pressure is required, three Roots pumps can be combined with a water ring pump, and its limit pressure can reach 1Pa.
If the third level water ring unit still cannot meet the limit pressure, we can use a water ring pump in parallel with a mechanical vacuum pump. This unit is mainly used for vacuum systems that require processing a large amount of water vapor, require a long time, and have very high extreme vacuum requirements, such as in vacuum drying.
If it is required to handle a large amount of water vapor in a vacuum system, the use of a water ring pump is more appropriate, but due to its low limit vacuum degree, the entire unit's limit vacuum degree is relatively low (this is only relative). Although in vacuum systems that require high vacuum levels, mechanical vacuum pumps with high limit vacuum are required as the front stage pumps. The pneumatic mechanical vacuum pump can be connected in parallel with the water ring pump as the front stage pump of the pump. When vacuum drying, first pre pump with a water ring pump until the water vapor in it decreases significantly, then start the pneumatic mechanical vacuum pump and cut off the water ring pump. If it takes a long time to complete the drying process, the required cooling water and power are relatively low.
Application: 1. Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals
The application fields of vacuum pumps include pharmaceuticals, pesticides, cosmetics and toiletries, soap and synthetic detergents, surfactants, printing inks and their additives, adhesives, photosensitive materials, water treatment agents and polymer flocculants, papermaking additives, leather additives, mineral flotation agents, casting chemicals, and metal surface treatment agents.

2. Vacuum coating, vacuum drying, surface treatment
The preparation of film layers in vacuum includes depositing crystalline metal, semiconductor, insulator, and other elemental or compound films. Although chemical vapor deposition also uses vacuum methods such as reduced pressure, low pressure, or plasma, vacuum coating generally refers to the deposition of thin films using physical methods. Vacuum pump applications play a crucial role in the coating industry, surface treatment, and drying processes.

3. Vacuum smelting, brick, ceramic manufacturing industry
The use of vacuum pumps is reflected in vacuum technology. This is a crucial part for the metallurgical and ceramic industries, as it can be used to prevent metals from being oxidized due to high temperatures during processing. The water and air inside the bricks and ceramics are evacuated through vacuum to ensure their highest quality.

4. Food packaging, milking, and beverage industries
Vacuum packaging technology originated in the 1940s. In 1950, polyester and polyethylene plastic films were successfully used for vacuum packaging, and since then, vacuum packaging has developed rapidly. Vacuum packaging is the process of extracting and sealing all the air from the packaging container, maintaining the bag in a highly depressurized state, and reducing the amount of air, which is equivalent to a low oxygen effect, making it impossible for microorganisms to survive in order to achieve the goal of fresh fruit and no occurrence of disease and decay.
